In this jazzy comedy Marty, an English teacher, meets Sally, a high school dropout, at a drugstore on Hollywood Boulevard. Sally asks Marty to help her with her secret passion, crossword puzzles. Marty in turn spills the story of her marriage to Nelson the dentist. Morgan, or "Raw Sex," Sally’s "word dealer," battles with Marty over the price of words. Jeremy, a former student of Marty’s, comes in to use the phone. He sees Marty and, charmed by her new openness, he lets her read his poems. Marty leaves with Jeremy, leaving Sally crushed. But while Morgan is consoling Sally, Marty returns, realizing she has left behind a potential true friend.see less
